Greta Swartz

Actor - Assistant Director - Theatre Artist

Hello!

Greta Swartz (she/her) is an actress and theatre artist currently based in the NH Seacoast area. She grew up starring in living room musicals alongside her siblings, receiving rave reviews (from her parents) for her portrayal of every role she wanted to play. She later branched out of her living room, making her stage debut as Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol. Since then, Greta has performed, assistant directed, and choreographed throughout New England in educational, professional, and regional productions.

Greta recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire, earning degrees in Musical Theatre and Political Science, with a minor in Justice Studies. In her time at UNH, Greta had the chance to perform in dream roles like Viola in Twelfth Night, and Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

While at college, Greta discovered new passions for directing, playwriting, and choreographing. She was a winning playwright in the University Prize Play Workshops, through which her original 10-minute play Last Christmas (By Wham!) was brought to life, had the opportunity to choreograph a main stage production of Songs for a New World, and assistant directed the play I Never Saw Another Butterfly for the student led theatre organization Mask and Dagger

Since graduating in May of 2023, Greta assistant directed the regional premiere of Waitress at Ogunquit Playhouse, directed by Abbey O'Brien and choreographed by Cost n' Mayor. She has also performed at Prescott Park Arts Festival in the ensemble and understudying Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and assistant directed Mark Twain's Folly at Hackmatack Playhouse.

Outside of theatre, Greta can be found reading, crafting, or engaging in political advocacy work. She is actively seeking performance and directing/assistant directing opportunities in New York and Boston, and is excited by the endless possibilities ahead!

"Greta Swartz's Susan [...] a superb, authentic performance, truly delightful."
